You would at one time, not so long ago, have had to have your eyes shut, ears sealed and sense of confusion culled, not to have noticed the new attraction in the relatively un-fair city of Dublin. For a short time, we were blessed with this new asset to our own flow of sludge, affectionately known as the river Liffey.

It cost an inordinate amount of tax-payers money. It was ugly and impractical. It would have had to be removed every year for the Trinity boat race.

On the plus side, it was launched on the Pat Kenny show with entertainment by none other than Dickie Rock. Is there anything it can't do?

I suspect so.

What pleases me most was the completely inapt name - "A Study in Time" which is rather an overstated description of something that could be achieved to better effect on a programmable calculator.

Here (using ripped off code attainable by clicking the clock) is my tribute version.

Well would you pay £2.5 Million for that?

Please Note - the effect is rather diminished if you lack a Java browser. Sorry.
